a momentary glimpse of reason

carnivore carnival

I’ve got to be honest, I’ve been struggling a fair bit this year – mainly around the issues of weight and running. every time I think I’ve found my running/walking mojo, it turns out to be a fake, and excess weight has played a part in that.

thing is, since being diagnosed as being a type 2 diabetic, I thought I had cleaned up my eating, and have been surprised how hard it has been even to stay around the same weight – and briefly flirted with 160kg again…

so I have revisited an old friend – low carb – and this time I’ve read wand watched a fair bit about carnivore too. it’s ok, I am not about to become an evangelist, spruiking an extreme diet plan/membership, but my previous experience with low carb does at least tell me that it has a range of positive benefits for me (note, that may not apply to you).

this is the start of the third week, and the early signs are positive (as hoped/anticipated). About 3kg down, hunger and cravings under control, and about a consumption of about 99.9% “real food”.

as bizarre as this would have sounded to a younger version of me, I really really want to get back to being a runner, and complete marathon number 7. I’ll be talking more about that on the runners gateway YouTube channel:
